Compliance Officer – Internal Governance
About the role
We are now looking for a Compliance Officer to join the Compliance Function at Svea Bank’s Spanish Permanent Establishment in Barcelona. About the Role
As a Compliance Officer you will be working within the function's four main areas of responsibility:
- Licensing and supervision matters
- Prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing
- Customer protection
- Market conduct
The Compliance Function is characterized by a non-prestigious, helpful attitude and high competence. You will be dedicated to handling all types of matters within the function's areas of responsibility to varying degrees, with the main focus on internal governance.
Your tasks will include:
- Monitoring and reviewing that the business is conducted in accordance with internal and external regulations.
- Providing advice and support to the business.
- Identifying and reporting compliance risks and suggesting possible actions.
- Training staff on new internal and external guidelines and regulations.
- Ensuring that new or significantly modified products comply with applicable regulations.
- Conducting controls and reporting to authorities.
You will report to the Site Manager and Head of Group Compliance, who reports directly to the CEO.
Experience and Requirements
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role. We expect you to have a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) from a university within the EU and at least 5 years’ experience in compliance within banking or financial services. You should have a strong understanding of and ability to interpret the external regulations applicable to licensed financial operations.
You are capable of identifying, analyzing, and assessing compliance risks. Furthermore, you are fluent in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, and able to express yourself clearly and professionally in writing. Other languages such as Swedish, Portuguese, French, or Italian are a plus.
